Newcomer novelist Yannis Makridakis was born in 1971 in Chios and studied Mathematics. Since 1997, when he founded the Centre for Chian Studies, the purpose of which is to research, record, study and disseminate Chian documentation, he has been organising the Centre's research and educational programmes, editing its publications and running the trimonthly journal Pelinneo. He has written the books Chiot Refugees and Soldiers in the Middle East, Testimonies 1941-46 (K. Ch. M. Publications, Pelinneo 2006) and 10,516 Days: A History of Modern Greek Chios 1912-1940, a historic novel (K. Ch. M. Publications, Pelinneo 2007). Hestia has also published his novel One and a Half Tin Cans. |
