Every morning, mum would run off to work. Little Alex would stay at home with his nanny until his mother would return in the evening. First thing in the morning, Al would already plan with his mum, what they would do together that night: perhaps read a book, or draw a picture, or even fix one of his toy cars… Sometimes however, Al’s mum would come home very late, when it was already time to go to sleep! When it was that sort of day, Al’s mum would tell him the most fantastic adventures; Al loved these stories so much, that his sadness would immediately disappear. So here’s one of these stories for you … My darling Al! Just listen to what incredible things happened to me today!!! I was leaving the office to come home after work, when all of a sudden, the exit door refused to open. I couldn’t get out! As you would expect, the other people at the office also tried to yank it open….or at least, break it open with something – but everything that they tried, did not work! In the end, they just gave up trying to open the door; instead, they simply busied themselves with finding a comfortable place to sleep for the night. Becoming more and more worried, I exclaimed fretfully: - I must get home - I don’t want to stay here! My little son Al is waiting at home for me. His baby-sitter will have brought him back home from his walk by now; they will both be anxiously watching the window, waiting for me to come home! - Well, you can try jumping from the balcony - someone suggested. - Are you crazy?! I’ll break into a hundred pieces! - Then stay here with us at the office…. - I need to get home to my son at once! - Use the balcony, then… |
