Miltiades Hatzopoulos (born in 1944) is an ancient historian, member of the French Academy (Académie des Inscriptions et Belles Lettres), Director of the Research Centre for Greek and Roman Antiquity and Vice-President of the National Research Foundation (Athens). He is the author or editor of monographs, epigraphic corpora and collective works and more than a hundred articles. His most recent monograph is
La Macédoine : Geographie historique, langue, cultes et croyances, institutions (Paris 2006).
For his work he has received the Bronze Medal of the Athens Academy. "Betwixt and between" is his first novel.
